Frederic Jones Fine Art
“When I was in the fifth grade, I decided I wanted to be an artist, clergyperson and scientist. Not to choose from this list, you understand. I wanted to be all three. I’m still working on it.”
Frederic Jones grew up drawing and painting. And inventing things. And thinking about theology. His earliest art forms of choice were pencil drawing and oil painting. In the years since he has expanded his media to include etching and wooden spoon carving. He worked for many years in various areas of design, including theatrical scene and costume design, architecture and lighting. He designed software for architectural design and cataloging, (scientist and design), and continued painting. While in graduate seminary (clergy) he continued to design for the theatre. Becoming a medical psychologist Frederic found himself living in the beautiful mountains in Burney, California. He became an avid photographer and focused on painting landscape. He actively pursues his three goals in life and has no plans to stop anytime soon.
Frederic Jones is an award winning artist with a number of media and techniques under his belt. He earned bachelors and masters degrees in fine arts and design and has served on the art and design faculties of Florida State University, JFK University, Western Design Institute and Academy of Art University. He currently is concentrating his artistic efforts on Western landscape paintings in colored pencil and mixed media and etchings. He has published 35 books, many on art, drawing, photography and design. They include Digital Photography Just for Dummies. In his spare time he has a full time private practice as a clinical/medical psychologist in Northern California.
"My work is both personal and universal. I try to make each painting or etching a haiku poem, a brief description of what I saw and felt when it was created."
